| GDYNIA, POLAND-(5-8-2003) Idea Gdynia Sailing Days regatta have just started off. The sailing capital of Poland welcomed all competitors with splendid weather conditions. Three races in all classes were held as it had been planned.
From the very morning it was sunny and the sky was pure. At 10 a.m., when the competitors were on the start the wind was blowing up to 13 knots.
- Perfect weather to sail – said happily this morning Andrzej Reyman, the chief of the jury.
- Still, the wind changed quite often today, which made sailing difficult in several moments – says Paweł Kuźmicki. Together with Paweł Kacprowski, they make the best Polish team in 49er class.
After the first race they were placed second. In all three races ‘Kacpry’ lost with Marcin Czajkowski and Krzysztof Kierkowski.
Before one of the races they all bet a great portion of ice cream.
- Once you win, once you fail. – said Paweł Kacprowski after the race – I hope that if we take a bet tomorrow, we will be on the top this time.
A very interesting competition is about to take place in Mistral class (M). The leader in ISAF rankings, Maxim Oberemko (Ukraine) is currently loosing with Piotr Myszka (AWF AZS Gdansk competitor). The Pole won today all the three races. However, Oberemko promises to get revenge.
A traditional hard competition took place in the Idea course area, where there were racing competitors from Finn class. Brothers, Wacław and Rafał Szukiel are at Mateusz Kusznierewicz’s heels. Today, Mateusz was on the top. He was the first in the first two races, but in the third one he lost to Wacław Szukiel.
